Do Nothing Blog

For the do nothing assignment I did it in the cafeteria by jasmins. It was just me and my friend sitting in a table and I was amazed that she didn't even bother asking me what I was doing because she was too busy on her phone. She looked up at me once and her eyes were locked on her screen after that. While I was standing I realized that mostly everybody was on their phones. Some people saw me standing others didn't. I'd look around the whole place at everyone and some starred more then others. I saw how people have their own little clicks or groups. Some kids do homework, some like to read or draw I felt like everyone has their own thing they like doing every morning.  I enjoyed doing this because for once I didn't have my phone in my hands I think this was the longest time I didn't use my phone. I also liked doing this assignment because you get to actually look around and closely see what other people are doing you're more aware of your surroundings and you see the little details on things you usually wouldn't notice.

  1. This was a great first blog for the Sociology assignment. I found the same things when I awkwardly stood for 10 minutes, as well, and seriously, everyone has at least one piece of technology they are either using or is right next to them. I'm glad that without your phone, ever for a short period of time, you had the chance to just take a rest and see how society unfolds.

  2. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people sit on their phone and ignore those around them. I think that in our generation its seen as acceptable, but in earlier generations if you disregarded the people you were sitting with it would be considered rude. Are you going to try to stay off of your phone more? Over the summer I went on vacation and left my phone off for like four or five days and it felt really good.

    1. It's funny because that's one of my pet peeves too I hate it when i'm with friends and they're on their phones but yet I always do that. I try not to use my phone as much but it's something hard for me because I rely so much on my phone without it I feel lost. That is something I need to work on & with your vacation i've been there and I didn't have my phone. Things were so different you have way more fun and your not even thinking about being on the internet or texting you're just having a good time.

  3. This is a great place to choose for the assignment because there is so much going on. It's a lot more interesting when you notice something you haven't noticed before yet it is going on everyday around you. I think that the 10 minutes allowed you to do that.
