Gay Straight Alliance

I thought every one of their stories was so touching. We all have our own ideas in our heads about what it is to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered & questioning but i feel that with everyone one of their story's we got a better understanding of it all. I feel that for everyone one of them the most stressful thing was coming out to their friends or family that was the day they feared the most to come. I cant imagine what it would be like having to live with the thought on a daily basis of whether people are going to except you when they get the news. You may get a positive outcome but it can also be something life changing. That same day they came to speak to us me & my mom went out to eat and I wanted to ask my mom what she would think if i told her I was lesbian or my brother was gay and she replied saying '' you guys can do whatever you want with your life's just know you'll be going to hell because god doesn't like those kind of things'' my mouth dropped when she said that i was in complete shock i wasn't expecting her to say something like that. There's people that support and others that are completely against these things but i wish that people would be more accepting they knew them when they were straight so what difference does it make if they choose to like the same sex they re normal humans beings just like everybody else the people they like shouldn't matter. That's the way they chose things to be so let them be happy with their decision.

Technology ruins society ?

Technology has always been around but I feel that now it's bigger than ever especially when it comes to phones it's like having a computer in your hands at every time of the day no matter where you are. It's something that you see in everybodys hands you hardly see anyone without a phone that's not being used. This takes a huge toll on us because it's ruining our social skills. Now a days being around friends or even family isn't the same because all their attention is being put into their phones. Yes we may be sitting in front of each other but our eyes are glued on our screen while we are talking eye contact is never used I feel that we have to be able to talk face to face. This also goes with texts and emails because sometimes we're afraid to speak to someone or we're too lazy to just talk to one another and we find it easier to do these things over the internet or through a text. By doing this it's also more time consuming it takes twice the time when you email or text than by giving somebody a phone call or seeing them in person this takes half the time. I feel that this will continue to be the same as the years go by the more smart phones that come out the more people will want them & i feel that we abuse the technology we have and we need to think about the old times when we didn't have our phones how different our lives were back then.

Neighborhood as a Socializing Agent

When we did this project I was thinking it was going to be boring & I was also thinking what's the point ?
When we got our zip code it was 20001 which is Washington, D.C.
You would think that since it's very close to the White House it'd be a very nice area to live in but not at all. When our group was doing research we looked up their crimes rates and the results were horrifying I would of never imagined any of that. Murder was at 821%, rape was at 149%, robbery was at 500%, assault was at 310%, burglary was at 131%, & vehicle theft was at 470%.
I found my area to be the most shocking but I feel that all the areas were pretty close but yet so different from each other . Our values & the things we do are so different. Although we're close there was families that are very wealthy and others who could bearly meet ends meet. Some neighborhoods and very nice and calm and others where there's so much crime going on. Also how races are all segregated it's a very sad thing we should all be able to get along with each other.
